Maya McLeroy is a poet, journalist, and lifelong student. Raised on an intergenerational family farm in Oregon, she went on to study journalism and creative writing at the University of Oregon’s Clark Honors College. For her undergraduate honors thesis, she wrote a collection of lyric essays braiding her own coming-of-age story with root science and etymology.

Maya is currently pursuing a master’s degree in creative writing at the University of Oxford. A recent participant at the Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference, she hopes to build a writer’s life that centers community and time spent in the world.
